COVID Upcoming Changes relating to funerals:

On Monday 7th December 2020 the NSW Premier has announced further easing of restrictions in relation to funerals.  The 4sqm metres of space will be changed to 2sq metres of space.  This will increase the number of attendees allowed inside each church and/or indoor venue.  Each church and/or indoor venue will have its own attendee limit based on the 2sqm rule and we will continue to liaise with our families regarding numbers able to attend at each venue.  The maximum number of people who can attend a funeral is still limited to 300 people subject to the 2sqm rule.

From Monday 23rd November 2020 we are required to use electronic methods such as a QR Code to collect the contact details of each person attending a funeral.  We will be responsible for keeping a record of your name contact number or email and your entry time at the funeral.  A QR code will be on display for you to scan before you enter each venue.

If a funeral has two parts to it , for example a church service followed by an interment in the cemetery, you will be required to check in at both the church and the cemetery.  If a person is unable to provide contact details for example due to age or language barriers another person may provide contact details on their behalf or they may sign a paper record.

If there are unexpected circumstances which prevent the use of electronic methods to collect contact details (such as internet outage), paper records may be used.

You are required by law to provide your details, If you refuse to do so you could be subject to a fine and will be unable to attend the service.

A QR Code looks like this:

Funeral Attendees will be asked the following questions:

  1. Do you have any symptoms associated with COVID 19 (For example, fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, sneezing, runny nose, loss of sense of smell, etc?
  2. Do you have COVID-19 or are you awaiting the result from being tested for COVID-19?
  3. Have you been in contact with any known or suspected cases of COVID-19 in the past 14 days?
  4. Have you returned or been in contact with anyone else who has returned from overseas I the past 14 days?

If the answer is YES to any of these questions you are NOT permitted to attend the service and are required to follow guidelines as set by the Australian Government Department of Health.

If the answer is NO to ALL of the above questions , you may attend the service subject to social distancing and the 4 sqm rule requirements.

The information collected by us will be retained and only released to Government Health Authorities in the event that “contract tracing” following a confirmed case of COVID-19 among attendees is identified. We are committed to maintaining the confidentiality and privacy of all persons we interact with.

We thank you for your patience and support throughout this health crisis and we continue to be available to provide compassion, care and support to our families.
