Memorial Service

2nd July 1926 – 11th February 2024

Loved and devoted son of Surgeon Lt Commander W.E.J. Paradice and Kate Carlyle Houston.

Passed away peacefully at Strathearn Retirement Home, Scone, with Bobbie by his side.  Much loved husband of Bobbie and loving father of WEJ, Peter, David, Jim, Kate and Sam and father in law to Peggy, Jude, Claire, Sarah, Charles (deceased) and Amanda.  Loved and respected Grandfather of Sarena, Duncan, Keira, Millie, Polly, Harriet, Hamish, Angus, Alexander, Lizzie, Benjamin, Harry, Molly, Clementine, Poppy, Jai Lei and Fred and their partners Alex, Annie, Angus, Ollie, Tom, Josh, Maddie, Erica and George. Great Grandfather to Scarlett, Darcey, Otis, Sanne, Remy and Paige.  A veteran of World War 2 having served in the Royal Australian Navy on HMAS Warnambool, mine sweeping, and then on the Fairmiles (HDML1328) on mine destruction duty.   A medical practitioner to, and member of, the community of the Upper Hunter since 1957, he served with his mentor Dr Walter Pye MBE and partners Dr Toby Barton OAM and Dr David Warden OAM.  This dedicated group of medical practitioners serviced the Scone Scott Memorial Hospital and looked after the health and well-being of the people of the Upper Hunter community for many decades.   His dedication, support and wisdom will be sorely missed.  He lived by his family motto “Dat Cura Commodum”.
